Reigning in Leadership is a leadership development initiative founded by Miss Lincoln Prairie 2026, Alia Stewart, designed to equip young women with the confidence, communication skills, and clarity to lead with authenticity.

Through workshops, mentorship, and leadership programming, participants gain the tools to speak with confidence, show up with intention, and step into leadership roles in their schools, communities, and future careers.

On our final day at Kiptopeke State Park, we finished clearing and lining the meditative labyrinth, completing the entire project. Our group was originally scheduled to complete only half of the labyrinth, but by the end of the week, we finished the whole thing.

We also had the opportunity to meet Catherine Anderson, the visionary behind the labyrinth, and hear about the purpose and intention behind the space we helped bring to life.

After saying our goodbyes and packing up, the final stretch was a 17-hour car ride from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon.

Finally home to kitty baby cuddles and some much-needed rest after an unforgettable Alternative Spring Break.

On our final day at Kiptopeke State Park, we finished clearing and lining the meditative labyrinth, completing the entire project. Our group was originally scheduled to complete only half of the labyrinth, but by the end of the week, we finished the whole thing.

❄️ Alternative Spring Break: Day 4

We officially made it past the halfway point of the meditative labyrinth!

Today included clearing the trail and lining it with trees. At one point, I ripped apart a tree with my bare hands!

Somewhere during lunch, a caterpillar also decided to make an appearance in my hair (see if you can spot it in the video Marcella took of me covered in tree).

We got caught in the rain and snuck away to watch rough waves roll in and snow on the beach.

I wrapped up the evening by packing thank you gifts for the park rangers who have been guiding this experience all week.

We crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel in the daylight (about ten times less scary than the night drive) to head to the mainland. Our day included visiting the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center, strolling the Virginia Beach boardwalk, enjoying a seaside lunch at Chix on the Beach, and a quick, necessary trip to Walmart.

We made it back just in time to walk the pier at Cape Charles Beach, watch the sunset over the water, and end the day with dinner at The Shanty.

A perfect day to recharge before getting back to work tomorrow.

Our crew spent the day clearing and lining trails for the new meditative labyrinth at Kiptopeke State Park, and safe to say we were living up to our mascot. Beavers build things, after all, and today we proved it.

Along the way, we discovered a young turtle tucked into hibernation and paused to see the cement boats. I even left my phone behind to be fully present in our activities.

After wrapping up for the day, we stayed at the park for laundry, watching the sky and birds, and even squeezed in a nap in the sunshine.

Tonight, we made time to adapt our schedule and keep some of our home routines. We worked together on a group Taco Tuesday dinner and shared our “2 Sweets and a Sour” while making plans for our day off tomorrow.

Friday was photoshoot day with @magicdreamsproductions (hair and makeup by @makeup_byjoseph with @constantinejamesco) and I’m still not over it. No idea how I’m going to choose from so many great photos!

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women, yet so many warning signs go unnoticed or misunderstood. Go Red for Women focuses on awareness, education, and advocacy while empowering women to take charge of their heart health and care for one another.

MLK Day is a reminder that dreams become meaningful when we step into our duty.

I was honored to host a reflection activity centered on “From Dream to Duty,” inviting the community to connect Dr. King’s vision to their own responsibility as leaders and changemakers.

I was also grateful to serve as host and scriptwriter for the MLK Convocation, helping to uplift the voices of those committed to justice, equity, and service.

Proud to represent a community that chooses reflection, adaptability, and action in honoring Dr. King’s legacy. As Miss Lincoln Prairie, this holds special meaning knowing that Illinois was the first state to recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a state holiday. His dream has always required more than remembrance. It calls us to responsibility, leadership, and continued action.

Today I joined the Blackburn College chapter of Best Buddies International to celebrate gratitude, friendship, and the joy of community. Watching students come together to share what they’re thankful for reminded me how powerful inclusion truly is. Through my CSI Reigning in Leadership, I get to help others discover their voice and their capacity for impact. This is exactly what the Miss America Opportunity stands for. Miss America has just announced its new mission statement, and I couldn’t be more excited about it: “Empowering women to lead with purpose.” These words resonate deeply with my beliefs and the work I do through Reigning in Leadership. It feels like a full-circle moment to see an organization that has significantly shaped my own leadership journey prioritize empowerment, purpose, and education at the core of its mission.

This aligns perfectly with my daily efforts to help women discover their voices, build confidence, and find the courage to lead in ways that are authentic to them. When women rise, their communities rise as well.
